“Real life is a funny thing, you know. I think most of us fear reaching the end of our life and looking back regretting the moments we didn’t speak up. When we didn’t say “I love you”. When we should of said “I’m sorry”. So there’s a time for silence, and there’s a time for waiting your turn… but if you know how you feel and you so clearly know what you need to say, you’ll know it. I don’t think you should wait, I think you should speak now” - Taylor Swift
“If there is a emotion that involves tears. You can bet that there is a Taylor Swift song for it” - Vincent W. Law

I have decided to approach this entry very differently from all my other posts. No doubt that you guys have all heard about the shooting here on the UT campus. It is a very surreal thing that you would have never thought would happen to you. After the initial fear of something bad happening to the people I care about, I now feel a bit sadness and confusion. To think that somebody out there was crazed enough to do that he did, to terrorize an entire campus full of students and staff, to wonder what was going through his head when he was waving that gun and shooting it off randomly. It is a scary thought. I am glad that nobody else was seriously injured in this unfortunate event. My prayers go out to everybody that was affected by this event, no matter how big or small. My prayers also go out to the family and of shooter, it is terribly sad to see a loved one to turn into that kind of mentality.
I am just glad that the UTPD and the APD were so quick in their response and saved countless lives of students and faculties today. For that I am forever grateful. These men and women deserve a lot more respect than what I have given them for. they put their lives on the line today to ensure that the rest of us are safe. For that, I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
September 28, 2010, a date that I will probably never forget. It is not comparable to the Virginia Tech event or the Columbine High school event, but this one affected me because it happened literally down the street from where I was. Also I hear stories about the shooter looking at students straight in the eye while carrying his gun and smiles. I cannot imagine the feeling that was rushing through those people’s minds, but I bet they were scary enough to petrify them. In the end, I am just glad that nobody was seriously injured.
As for University of Texas at Austin, you have endured so much in the last 54 years or so. I am just glad that the tower still stands tall to give us a sense of destiny and safety. I am and will always be proud to say that I am a student here and I have been through the events of today.
Right now, I have the song “Iridescent” by Linkin Park on repeat on my iTunes because I feel it’s the song that summarizes the events today. It is a great song I urge you guys to check it out.
I will be ending this entry differently too, instead of something cute I feel it is more important to post this.. Hook ‘em Horns.
